Your account identity, the Master Profile, sign-in, cloud sync, and data deletion.
Account Management
VeriWorkly separates who you are (your account) from your career data (your Master Profile). Understanding that split explains most of how the product behaves.
Account vs. Master Profile
Your account
Manages authentication and application preferences:
- Email — the address used for your passwordless sign-in.
- Display name and profile image.
- Username — required before you can create a public share link, since share URLs are
username-scoped (
/share/{username}/{slug}). - Preferences — theme (light, dark, or follow system) and the auto-sync toggle.
A username is permanent
You can only set a username once. It is baked into every share URL you have handed out — and, on a
plan with custom_subdomain, into your published portfolio's address — so the API rejects a
change with 409 Username is locked and cannot be changed. Your input is normalised before it is
stored (lowercased, non-alphanumerics folded to hyphens, truncated to 32 characters), so check
what you will actually get before committing.
Your Master Profile
The canonical record of your career history — work experience, education, projects, skills, certifications, awards, publications, languages, interests, volunteer work, references, and achievements — stored as a single record per user.
Every new resume, cover letter, or portfolio auto-seeds from it. Editing a document never writes back to the Master Profile, so you can tailor one resume for one job without touching your canonical data or any other document.

Signing in
VeriWorkly is passwordless. There is no account password to forget or reuse.
- Email OTP — enter your email, receive a one-time passcode, and enter it. The code is valid for 5 minutes and allows 3 failed attempts before it must be re-requested.
- OAuth — sign in with Google, GitHub, or LinkedIn instead. Account linking is enabled, so signing in with Google after having used email OTP lands you on the same account rather than creating a duplicate.
Sessions last 30 days by default and are shared across VeriWorkly subdomains, so a login in Studio carries over to the portfolio builder.
You do not need an account to build
Documents work fully logged out — they live in your browser, backed by a 30-day guest cookie. An account is only required for cloud sync, sharing, AI, ATS scanning, imports, and portfolio publishing.
You will also receive automatic emails on account events: a welcome email on signup, and a new-device login alert whenever a session is created from an unfamiliar device, showing the provider, IP, and user agent.
Cloud sync
Once signed in, documents sync in the background.
- Auto-sync toggle — on by default, switchable at
/settings, alongside a manual Sync Now action. - Per-document opt-out — mark any single document "keep local only" to exclude it from sync entirely.
- Sync status — every document shows one of
local-only,pending,syncing,synced, orconflicted.
Conflict handling
VeriWorkly uses optimistic concurrency, not last-write-wins. Each document carries a revision
counter; if the cloud copy has moved on since your device last synced, the write is rejected and
the document is marked conflicted rather than overwritten. Resolve it from the conflict details
view at /settings.
You can keep typing during a sync
When a sync request is in flight, the response only updates the document's sync metadata — never its content. Edits you make while waiting are not overwritten when the request lands.
Settings
/settings in Studio contains:
- Appearance — light, dark, or follow-system theme.
- Sync — the auto-sync toggle, manual sync, and conflict resolution.
- Developer API keys — a link through to
/api-keys. See API Keys.
Deleting your data
Individual documents can be deleted at any time from the dashboard. Deletion is a soft delete server-side: the record is flagged rather than immediately purged, and it stops counting against the free-tier one-document-per-type limit.
Local data persists in your browser until you clear site data or delete the document. Clearing browser storage removes anything that was never synced.
Self-service account deletion is not yet available
Studio does not currently expose an account-deletion control, and the backend's delete-user endpoint is not enabled. To have your account and all associated cloud data removed, email [email protected]. You will receive a confirmation email when the deletion is processed. Deletion cascades to your documents, Master Profile, share links, portfolio, API keys, and sessions.
